Our students have been reading about the COVID19 topic and they prepared some presentations, according to the information available..
February 2020. A group of 28 students (class 3A) from the IIS Medi Scientific Lyceum, guided by their teachers and exponents of local associations, cleaned a piece of beach, collecting 148 kg of litter! This was possible thanks to the cooperation with the Association "Mare Vivo" and the local "Dusty" society.
This initiative has been disseminated by the media. Link to the article here. For two weeks, we weighed the amount of food thrown at our school. We alerted students to this and urged the students to reduce their waste. Two weeks later, we weighed again and it turned out that we had reduced the waste by 25 kilos. During this campaign we used the posters produced by all participating students at the first meeting in Sweden. Activity: Creating masks to use during the pandemic.
Activity: Cleaning the beach, praia da Rainha, and make registers on the amount and type of litter. Activity: exploring the atlantic coast and learning about its importance. What we did: we went on a hop on hop off along the coast with an expert explaining the characteristics of the atlantic coast. Our step was: with this activity we learned about the atlantic coast, its importance and the threats to this ecosystem. The Competition "Art and recycling" at the IIS Medi has just ended. Students created works of art using recycled materials such as papers, old newspapers, broken necklaces, plastics, buttons, straws and son. Among them, the Erasmus Commission, summoned for their evaluation, decided two winners: By producing wooden boards with messages to be set on the beach in order to encourage people to be involved in the problem. we tried to raise awareness of the problem and lead people to be part of the solution.
